Heroes Pull for Special Olympics- Athlete of the Week: Chris Baker

05/21/2024

Fundraisers are so much more meaningful when you see how they benefit the members of our community.  From now until the Coffey County Heroes Pull for Special Olympics Kansas on July 26th, we will spend time highlighting local athletes.  It is because of fundraisers like the Heroes Pull that these athletes are able to participate in such inclusive and rewarding activities.  We are so thankful for your participation and/or monetary contributions to the Heroes Pull this year! Shout out to COF of Burlington for helping us highlight some of these individuals in our community.

Our first Athlete of the Week is Chris Baker!

Chris is originally from Cottonwood Falls, but now resides in Burlington.  He has been involved with Special Olympics for over 15 years!  The events he likes to participate in include track and field, bowling, and fishing...but his favorite event is fishing.

Chris says that the best part of being involved with Special Olympics is that he loves going fast in his wheelchair (and win!), and because he just enjoys being outside.

"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."

We wish all of the best to Chris as he continues his career as a Special Olympics athlete!
