SAVE THE DATE! Heroes Pull for Special Olympics
05/20/2024
Get ready for a fun, new event at the Coffey County Fair this year! Join the Coffey County Sheriff's Office July 26th, 7:30p, on the Coffey County Fairgrounds for the Heroes Pull for Special Olympics Kansas.
We are here to challenge the entire Coffey County and surrounding communities to step up to BE A HERO for Special Olympics. There is no age limit!
For a minimum of $100 raised for Special Olympics Kansas, teams register to pull the Coffey County Special Response Team's "Bear" vehicle. Each team will pull the Bear 75ft twice for time. The times will be averaged to get the competitive team time. Awards will be given to the top three teams with the fastest times, and to the team of participants who raises the most money for Special Olympics Kansas. So don't stop at your teams $100 fundraising goal! Keep raising funds for local and statewide Special Olympics athletes who benefit so much from fundraisers like this until the event on July 26th!
Teams can register as many people as they want, but the combined weight of the team cannot exceed 1500 pounds. There will be a quick weigh in from 6:30p-7:15p the night of the event. Don't worry! The whole team will step on the scale together. No one will have to tell us their personal weight!
Sheriff Johnson wants to encourage as much participation as possible by providing each participant (for teams who meet their $100 fundraising goal) with a Heroes Pull t-shirt from the Coffey County Sheriff's Office Special Law Enforcement Trust. No Coffey County tax dollars will be used to hold this event.
Register by July 22nd online at
https://charity.pledgeit.org/heroespull24
We encourage you to register ASAP so that your team can begin raising money beyond the $100 donation before the event on July 26th. Don't stop there! We want to see teams challenge others to join in on the cause! Schools against schools, sports teams against sports teams, businesses against businesses. Call others out and ask them to step up to the challenge.
We'll use the social media hashtags #Coffeycountyheroespull and #Daretopullthebear as we watch for registered teams to make public challenges to others on social media!
In conjunction with the Heroes Pull, Sheriff Johnson will be sitting in the dunk tank for the "Dunk the Sheriff" part of our Special Olympics fundraiser. Warm up your throwing arm and make your best toss to make a splash and raise some cash for Special Olympics Kansas when you hit the target to send the Sheriff plummeting into the water tank! $1/Throw, 3/$5, 5/$10. All proceeds will go directly to Special Olympics Kansas!
This fundraiser will benefit Special Olympics athletes both locally and across the state! Special Olympics Kansas includes 5000+ athletes, 2486 coaches, 146 athlete leaders, 84 competitions, and 20 sports.
Money raised from team registrations, team fundraising, and additional donations will go directly to Special Olympics Kansas to fund varies events and resources for athletes:
- sports training and competitions
- leadership opportunities
- health and wellness programs and screenings
- inclusive schools and communities
- lasting friendships
Sheriff Johnson and the Coffey County Sheriff's Office staff are proud to support such a worthy and heartfelt cause by hosting the 2024 Heroes Pull during the Coffey County Fair. Our hope is that this event will make an incredible difference in the lives of Special Olympics athletes both locally and throughout the state of Kansas!
Want to contribute to the cause, but don't want to participate in the Heroes Pull? We are accepting free will donations now through the event night. Cash or checks made payable to Special Olympics Kansas can be dropped off or mailed to the Coffey County Sheriff's Office at 605 Neosho St, Burlington, KS 66839.
